So I'll join the trend since I've started reading the books and I have to say that they are so addicting it's dangerous, especially for someone who reads like I do. You'd have to really know me to truly understand that, and it's a little long to explain here. Anyway, unlike Melinda, I like who they chose for Edward but it will be hard to think of him as anyone but Cedric Diggory. We'll just have to see.

Boo at the Zoo

This past weekend we went to the Boo at the Zoo, despite the fact that the day and night before I was so sick I could barely walk. It was horrible as I lay in bed desperately begging God to make me better so that the kids could go to the zoo. We've been going for 4 or 5 years now and it's become a great tradition and this year more than ever, I wanted to keep it going. Thanks to wonderful in-laws who came along, despite the horrific crowds, and helped me out too. The kids had so much fun and it was all worth it. And I have to say that in spite of those dreadful crowds, it was a lot of fun, definitely one of the warmest times we've done the Boo at the Zoo.
All the kids in their costumes. Pardon the shadows, it couldn't be helped.
Emma was a fairy.
Porter Potter. He was Harry Potter or as he would say "Haee Pottee".
Hyrum was Spiderman.
Dan was Little Roo.

The next four is just them in their costumes before we left for the zoo. They were all so cute. Porter loved being Harry Potter. He was so excited to have a wand and get to wear glasses. The glasses were a bit big on him so every now and then they would slip off and he would go into hysterics, "My glasses, my glasses!!!!" screaming and crying until I got them back on properly. It was so cute. Dan wasn't always so keen on the hat part but he seemed to think things were pretty nifty. Hyrum was having fun, and Emma was beautiful in her big fairy wings. She loved them.
Now, on a bit of a side note if you've made it this far down my post. Danny does this whenever he eats, whether he is eating big boy food or nursing. He grabs what little hair he has by his ears and pulls and pulls and pulls. In the end it is usually sticking out, especially if whatever food he has been eating is being used as styling gel. Anyway. . . This is the result.
This being Halloween and all, it just reminded me of Grandpa Munster. . .

Ain't They Cute When They Match

So these use to be Hyrum and Porter's when they were the respective ages of Porter and Dan now. I thought it was cute having little boys that match and it is. These two are cute. Whenever they sit next to each other, Dan grabs at Porter and gives him big hugs. You have no idea how difficult it was just to get these. I'm so blessed though because at least they love each other.

Ogden Nature Center

This past Tuesday I actually got to go and chaperon Hyrum's field trip to the Ogden Nature Center. They were learning about trees.
Here they are learning about what the different leaves look like, the difference between coniferous and deciduous trees, and all having fun doing so.
Here they are all receiving instruction on how they are going to make their own paper.
Making paper. There was a nature trail there called birdhouse trail in which there are bunches and bunches of various different kinds of birdhouses made by members of the community. I took snap shots of some, but they were pretty wild, made out of all kinds of things. This one is an adobe home.
A rubik's cube.
Propane tanks.
This kept the temperature for the birds.

It was a lot of fun and Hyrum and his class had a blast. It was fun to be along for the ride and get to see some of what he has been learning.

First Snow

Last night it was kind of snow raining, nothing sticking, and then this morning, we wake up to this. It was still snowing when I took the pictures and was still going strong when we went to church this afternoon. It chilled out a bit while at church and then this evening started up again. It is very cold but it was beautiful.

The tree right outside our back window.
The playground
The van out front.
Onto a different note. What with the weather turning pretty hard on us, I had to dig out the winter clothes, including, the winter jammies. Dan's my third to wear these and they are just so cute. He also kept the hat on a heck of a lot longer then any of the other kids.

Uh-Oh

This is Danny's new word. He says Mom and Dad but this is just too cute. Sorry they are sideways, can't turn a video but you can still see the little cutie.

Dancing Fools

My kids LOVE to dance. Especially Emma but the boys really get into it too, even Dan but I don't have any of him getting down yet. Emma and Porter are probably the ones that love it the most but even Hyrum gets going with his sister. Emma is definitely the inciter when it comes to dancing about the house, but they are sure cute when they all get going.

On a totally different point but an interesting one. I found a really cool website via one of my other friends' blog. Check out http://www.hillbillyhousewife.com/index1.htm
for some really great ways to help save you some money on groceries. Her menus are obviously from a Southern woman, so if you don't much like Southern cooking, try to adapt it to your own eating style. I think at this time with the economy the way it is, we could all use with some help on cutting back.

Porter's Birthday

Last Saturday we had Porter's birthday party. Since Joe was leaving on his actual birthday, we wanted to have the party while Daddy was here. It was a lot of fun. Everyone was there, minus Aunt Morgan and Uncle Geoff, from Joe's family anyway. The kids had fun, playing in the dirt, going four wheeling, and playing with all the presents. It was fun to be together as a family and to have fun celebrating Porter's arrival into our little family. He's such a wonderful blessing and I can't thank the Lord enough for him in our lives. He's so sweet and mellow. He's a big ole Momma's boy and loves to give mommy snuggles. He sure makes me feel loved.

Side note--He also had his checkup and he is very healthy. He weighs in at 29 lbs and is 38 inches tall. That all puts him in about the 25%. He's definitely a light weight. I think it's kind of funny that my biggest baby, is my smallest kid. He weighed in at 8 lbs 8 ozs when he was born. I couldn't believe it then and he hasn't stopped amazing me since, and not just by his size. He's gotten very talkative as of late, and anyone who knows Porter, knows that's quite the big deal. Porter has always just gone with the flow and has never really talked much. He just did his thing and was very quiet, however, over the last four months or so, his talking has taken off and now he can be quite the chatterbox. He's so cute and sweet. I love him very much. Happy 3rd Birthday my little Porter Joseph, or as he calls himself PD.
