Family Fun

The last week we've been trying to make it alot of fun for the kids. We went to the aquarium in Sandy. Kind of boring for us adults but the kids love the fish. Especially Porter!! I even got Dan to focus on the fish and he seemed to like it.

The day before that we got to go to the Treehouse Museum, which is the awesomest children's museum I have ever been to. The kids had a blast and it all ended in tears as we had to make them leave. One of the cool things was that Emma and Hyrum got to be in a "Participlay". A story which is acted out by kids in the audience. Hyrum was the main character of the fisherman and Emma played a snail. The fisherman turns into a crane at the end of the play, hence the picture. It was so awesome. Hyrum was quite the little actor and he was the only kid in the whole play who actually said all his lines correctly. I was quite impressed with him. Emma was so cute but shy. They got to play on big instruments and play with toys and play in a castle. It really was alot of fun. I wish we could have been there all day.

It really has been fun this past week. I only wish that it could all make up for Joe leaving. Emma's already having such a difficult time. The last thing we did for them all was to go to Build-a-Bear and they all got to build their own stuff animal with Daddy's voice inside. Emma especially loves her's. I hope and pray that that will help when their daddy has to go away. I just wish there was a magic fix for me. I don't think I've ever been so terrified in all my life. Being a mother of four is hard enough, but to be a single mother of four is so terrifying, even if it's only for a year. Well, here's hoping.

Finally Did It!

I finally did it. I finally got all four to sit down and take a picture. Aren't they cute? You have no idea the struggle that has been. Porter just won't sit still and the other two argue over who will hold Dan. But the Christmas spirit seems to have bit them and Mom's determination won out in the end. Here they all are in their new Christmas outfits in front of our Christmas tree. Hyrum and Emma are holding their new loveies from Christmas. We opened some presents early because Christmas for us is more about family and less about presents. They wanted to show the world their new treasures. We even tried a group picture with Mom. It didn't turn out great but at least I'm not being camara shy anymore and trying. I love Christmas!!!

Let's Try Again

Okay, alot has happened since I updated this site. Life honestly got a little busy on me. For one we moved to Ogden, UT and bought our first home. It's a three bedroom townhome and it's just perfect for our little family, at least for now. Honestly, in this housing market, it's what we could afford at the time and we thought it made a great little starter home. Time and finances will allow for a bigger home but for now we love what we have and are very greatful to have it.

Hyrum started Kindergarten this year. He is so smart and so far ahead of most kids in his class academically but Mom takes care to supplement at home. He just loves the social aspect of school. We are hoping to get him into a charter school next year, either that, or they will have to have him skip a grade most likely. He loves to read and reads everything and anything that he can get his hands on. He absorbs everything like a sponge, it's actually kind of freaky. We love him and are so proud of him. He turns 6 at the end of January. He is so strong willed and stubborn and listening is definitely not his strong suit, but he is also so helpful and can be the sweetest older brother in the world. He is so easy to love.

Porter turn two. He doesn't talk much, but he has proven he is extremely intelligent. He watches his little shows and can actually figure out the patterns and colors and points at the TV to show his comprehension. He is so mellow. He loves to play and build things with his blocks. He LOVES to color. He is rarely without a crayon in one hand and paper in the other. He could spend all day doing nothing but coloring. He's are calm doe-eyed little boy. He loves being a new big brother and is just the sweetest cuddlebug in the world.

Emma will be four in February and she can't wait to get to go to preschool. She plays school with Hyrum and he teaches her everything he learns in kindergarten. She just loves it. She loves to sing and makes up her own songs. She loves to hold her new baby brother and sing to him. It's so cute. She loves to be a princess when she is in her church dresses by twirling around so they balloon out, but as soon as she is home, it's into jeans and running around with her brothers. She's definitely our high maintenance little girl but she is so sweet, we can't help but love her so much.

Our newest addition joined us a mere month ago. Dan Paul was born on the 21st of November. He was 7 lbs 10 ozs and 20 inches long. He gave us a right good scare at birth though because he spent his time in the hospital in the NICU because he had difficulty with his breathing. He spent only three days there and then was able to come home. He's been relatively fine since then. He does have a heart murmur but so far it seems to be benign. It seems to be just one of those baby things so we are hopeful that there is nothing wrong with him. He had an EKG and chest X-ray and they were fine. He will have to see a cardiologist but it looks as though it really is nothing to worry about. He has definitely made our lives more hectic and I'm trying desperately to get use to the new pace of life. I love it though. He is such a sweet baby. He loves to be held and cuddled with and never ignored.

We are just so thankful to have all these blessings this past year and we love our family. We love that we can be a family and have one another.
