Bryce Canyon

Well, now that Joe is gone, I have a minute of free time. Not that I've been so successful. I started this post last night but was so tired I couldn't come up with a coherent sentence. Not that I can promise that here either. While Joe was home, we went down to Ceder City to stay and spent our time hiking at Ceder Breaks and Bryce Canyon. We all had so much fun, we didn't want to come home. The kids had a lot of fun, and Hyrum and Emma had a blast earning their Junior Ranger Badges at both places. That made the experience even more fun for them.

Hiking was a lot of fun. We tried really hard to make it all the way down the Canyon, but we ended up cutting it short, and going back up. Hyrum was distraught, but between Emma yelling that she had to go the bathroom and Danny wanting to be fed, we had no choice. What we got to do was a lot of fun though.

Yesterday was also Porter's birthday. He turned 3. I will try to get his birthday post up later today or tomorrow.

An Experiment in Business

Well, here is my first bag that I have been trying to sell. So far, ebay is not a winner, however, if anyone of my readers knows anyone who would like to buy let me know.

I also want to preempt the fury of blogging that will most likely take place next week. Joe has been home for the past two weeks and on Tuesday he must return to Afghanistan, so then I will actually have the time to post and will be putting up everything that we have been doing for the past couple of weeks. It will hopefully be quite cathartic for me so I preapologize for how much you will have to read come next week, but I hope to see you all here.

Emma's First Soccer Game

Emma also had her first soccer game this Saturday. She had a little bit of a hard time at first and came out crying, saying she was tired. It took me a bit, but I got her to go back in, and she ended up having a blast!! Since they are so little, they didn't really keep score. They played their little hearts out though, and Emma was good and exhausted come the end of her game. I was so proud of her. She did a very good job, especially for her first game.

Hyrum's First Soccer Game

Hyrum's team won 10-2!!!! He had a lot of fun and it was great. I usually detest slide shows, but the fact is that I took so many pictures, this time I had absolutely no choice. So here's the slideshow from his game. Note: For the first quarter, Hyrum played for the other team because they were short a player, hence the yellow jersey thing.

Also, it was pretty freaking cold this morning so we all froze, but it was totally worth it. His game was at 8 a.m. Emma, Porter, and Dan all were greatly behaved and Emma really rooted for her brother. They were all great.

Soccer Schedules

This post is mainly for family although friends are also welcome to come. I will get pictures of their first practices and also of their first games tomorrow later. But for now, here is Emma and Hyrum's schedules of soccer games. I encourage everyone to try for at least one. I know it's a drive for most of you but if you can make it, I know it would mean the world to them.

Journal 7

Outside My Window: Sunshine. A nice cool breeze.

I Am Thinking: It sure is nice to have all the windows open instead of the air running.

I Am Thankful For: Good friends.

From the Kitchen: Kids had hot dogs, corn dogs, crackers and grapes. I have no idea what to eat.

I Am Creating: A scripture bag for my sister-in-law.

I Am Going: No where tonight. Almost time to get the kids to start winding down for the night.

I Am Wearing: White shirt and tan corduroy pants.

I Am Reading: Artemis Fowl.

I Am Hoping: To feel less stressed. Hoping to hear from my kids' soccer coaches before my brain blows.

I Am Hearing: On Demand commercials and the kids being too loud for their own good.

Around the House: Laundry, Dishes, cleaning the kitchen.

One of My Favorite Things: My new computer.

A Few Plans for the Rest of the Week: School, workout, preschool with Emma, playgroup on Friday.

Here is a Picture Thought I am Sharing with You:

This is a digital composite of a thunderstorm. One of the few things that I actually miss about the Midwest are the thunderstorms. There is nothing like watching those clouds roll in, the thunder that shakes your house, and lightening so bright it's like noonday in the middle of the night. And that smell, of rain on the hot streets and in the grass.

Journal 6

Outside My Window: Sun is finally shining, at least for now.

I Am Thinking: How much I miss Joe.

I Am Thankful: That Joe will be home to visit in a couple of weeks.

From the Kitchen: Leftovers.

I Am Creating: Another baby blanket.

I Am Going: Nowhere today. Weather to unpredictable.

I Am Wearing: White shirt and capri jeans.

I Am Reading: Artemis Fowl-The Time Paradox.

I Am Hoping: For more rain. I know some people lost power but that storm was awesome and it would be nice to have just a bit more.

I Am Hearing: Kids upstairs playing and the Fresno St v Rutgers football game (real winner, no score and it's a second until halftime).

Around the House: Laundry, dishes.

One of My Favorite Things: Quiet.

Here is a Picture Thought I am Sharing with You:
Well for me, I've been taking this kind of picture since Hyrum was born. This is Joe and Danny. I don't know, for me, this picture is one of the most calming sites. Nurturing is such a "woman" thing, at least stereotypically, so when I see a father in those tender moments with his child, it just makes my heart sore. A real man is one who can take the time to snuggle with his babies. Joe is such an amazing father and our children and myself are so blessed to have him in our lives.
